X-Rays
X-Rays are important to be able to detect and identify arthritis, fractures, disc degeneration, and hidden
bone/joint injury that may not be found with normal examination
procedures.
Most spinal misalignments are also visible upon x-ray analysis, and
Dr.Pinelli takes the time and effort to review each x-ray carefully with his
patients.
Dr.Pinelli has his own x-ray facility located on the premises, and he
can take, process, and be able to show a patient their x-rays all in the same
visit.
X-Ray courses are standard in the chiropractic education
curriculum, and each doctor must also pass National Board and State Board testing in order to obtain their
licensure.
The X-ray to the left is that of the lumbar [low back]
spine. The vertebrae are number from 2-5. The disc spaces are in-between the vertebrae.
Each disc space is associated with 2 vertebrae and, therefore, has two numbers for
its name. For example, the white arrow points to the L4/5 disc space.
Note the difference between the L3/4 [black arrow] and L4/5 [white arrow] disc
spaces.
The white arrow shows the collapse, "degenerative" disc compared to the "normal" L3/4
disc space.
