Introducing Bel Air Chiropractor Dr. Desmond
Pinelli
I graduated from Life Chiropractic College (Georgia) in 1991, and I began practicing in
Maryland in 1992. In my years in practice, I have given care to over 5,000 individual patients, and have
performed over 100,000 individual treatments on patients as young as one month old and as advanced as 90 years
old.
I moved to Bel Air in 1997, and have since helped hundreds of people in our community to live stronger, healthier, pain-free
lives.
Originally from New Jersey, I was first introduced to chiropractic care
by my older brother, who is also a chiropractor, and through a low back injury sustained while playing
basketball as a teenager. That injury left me unable to walk or move without severe pain, and the chiropractor
who had helped my mother through a difficult neck problem also helped me regain my ability to play basketball
within a month. The doctor didn’t use medication, or unnatural means to achieve the results, he simply used his
hands. I knew what I wanted to be when
I grew up.
These days I moonlight as a chiropractor, with my number one
job being the father of my young twin boys, Dane and Nathan. With those two
around, plus our five cats and two Labrador retrievers, there is never a dull moment. Along with my wife
Julie, we have all enjoyed living and working (and lots of playing) in Bel Air, and we look forward to being
part of our community as both a family and family doctors office for many years to
come.

EDUCATION
After 6 years of
education, Dr.Pinelli graduated from Life Chiropractic College in 1991 with degrees to practice Chiropractic and
Physical Therapy.
During
his schooling he completed 420 college credits, took over 90 individual courses, totaled a cumulative 4,500
class hours, and achieved honor roll status multiple times.
Dr.Pinelli received
his Physical Therapy certification through National College of Chiropractic.
Upon completion and
graduation, Dr.Pinelli sat for and passed the rigorous 4 parts of National Boards plus the Physical Therapy
section, which are prescribed and overseen by The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. The successful
passing of these boards qualifies a Doctor of Chiropractic to apply for each individual State Board. Each state
in the country has its own State Board qualifications and testing protocol, and a doctor must pass each State
Board to be able to practice in that state.
Dr.Pinelli holds a
state license in Maryland, having passed testing and licensure requirements. Maryland licensure also
requires its doctors to pass a separate Physical Therapy portion, which Dr.Pinelli successfully
completed.
X-Ray courses are
standard in the chiropractic curriculum, and Dr.Pinelli has received extensive training in the taking of and
analyzing of x-rays, with National Board and State Board testing completion.
Maryland has one of
the more comprehensive continuing education programs in the country, dictating that a doctor of chiropractic
take 24 hours of continuing education credits per year. Dr.Pinelli has accumulated over 350 continuing education
hours, with all courses being approved and accredited by The Maryland State Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
These courses include: whiplash and spinal trauma, physical therapy, documentation, personal injury/workers
compensation, exercise rehabilitation, low back injury, soft tissue injury, disc injury, CPR, risk management,
neurological/orthopedic evaluation, x-ray evaluation, chiropractic technique- just to name a
few.
